Representing the United States, eleven year old Evelyn Wang won a Bronze Medal in 1 Meter Springboard Diving at the Junior Pan American Games. Wang trains with McCormick Divers and coach Maggie Zhou in Long Beach at the Martin Luther King Junior Pool.

October 9th, Wang joined divers in Tucson, Arizona for the inaugural Junior Pan American Games. The Pan Am Games started in 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The games include Olympic sports with athletes from countries throughout North, South, and Central America. From 1951 – 2019, the games were only open to adult athletes. At the 2019 games, the first Junior Pan Am Games was announced.
While the main events will be held November 25th through December 5th in Cali, Colombia,
some sports, like diving, are being held at alternate locations. This made it much more convenient for US divers to compete without having to travel internationally while the pandemic continues.
Winning medals at USA Junior Nationals and Junior Pan Am Games in her first year diving is a promising start for Wang’s diving career.
